For the 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, the Scottish Government is introducing the Personal Achievement in Planning Award.
This Award is to recognise either an individual planner, team, local authorities, consultants, community groups, developers, public agencies and voluntary organisations who has made an outstanding contribution to planning.
This can be for their contribution to a particular project or for lifetime recognition of commitment to the industry. All entries must be nominated.
Three applicants have been shortlisted in 2016.

Winners
Due the nature of candidates who had been nominated, the Judges have recommended 2 awards.
Jim Birrell – The award is to recognise Jim for his 44 years of commitment to planning. His style is one which ‘provided common sense to complex situations’.
Kirsty Macari – The Judges wanted to recognise Kirsty as an aspiring young talent.
